You will need

STEP 1. ENABLE LEGACY RESTORE MODE

Now while at  Service Book
>> hold ALT and press S B E B (for BB's like the curve 2) /
>> hold ALT and press S S B E B (for Half QWERTY keypads)/
>> hold  [!?123]  until you see the lock icon and
press  4  ?  2  ? (for Touch Screen BBs)

If done Correctly , you will see ' Legacy SB Restore Enable ' display on your screen

STEP 2. BACKUP and RESTORE SERVICE BOOKS
>> Connect your Blackberry Phone to the PC
>> Start Blackberry Desktop Manager >>Choose Backup and Restore >> Select the Advanced option and Click Restore
>> Once you click Restore , it will open a window asking you to provide  the ' .ipd ' file you downloaded , go to where you saved it and load the file

STEP 3. CONFIGURE BROWSER
>> On your Blackberry , Go To
Options > Advanced Options > Service book ...
to check if you see the new Service Books , if you dont see them then repeat steps 1-2 again ...
>> Now Go to Options > Advanced Options > Browser
and change the Default Browser Configuration from ' Hotspot ' to ' Browser '

STEP 4 CONFIGURE TCP
Go To Options > Advanced Options > TCP
and use APN - Internet
NB: for Vodafone Ghana use 'Browse'
Now you can browse the internet and download Apps , Music etc  directly to your phone

    1. For BlackBerry handsets running OS6 or higher, a different approach is needed to use internet without BIS or BES. The conventional OS5 approach wont work. For more information on the process subscribe to Sushindro H Sharma on facebook
